THE ADULT AND THE CINEMA as in the film The Adventures of Mark Twain, it was, what I would call a very educational picture, being a writer 'Mark Twain' influenced me a lflt, I have always wanted to write a book, and now I feel more determined than ever to write one, also I learnt a lot from that picture such about 'Mark Twain's' real name, his life, ambitions and humour, also a very slight bit about Haley's Comet. But every picture I see there is always some little bit of knowledge I learn that I didn't know before. As to ever dreaming about any picture, I must confess I never have, although I don't know why, because my mind is so much full of them, that why I shouldn't dream of them remains a complete mystery to me. But of course I have had one or two real nasty nightmares through seeing a horror picture. But the nightmare has not actually been about the film itself. I must add that I enjoy horror or murder mystery films, and with a little modesty can generally detect the murderer and the clues and mistakes he makes before any of my other friends can, who happen to be with me at the time. 68. Miss . . . I am not very clever at wording this kind of letter, but would like to help, if possible, the investigation. i . I took a great liking to Deanna Durbin's hair style in First Love, copied it as near as possible and found it suited me better than any other style. I also took a great interest (which I never had before) in the more serious music, after seeing the films Dangerous Moonlight and The Great Lie. 2. I don't know whether this is correct for this question but I remember dreaming I went to a cinema to see George Sanders and Mary Maguire in The Outsiders, but what I dreamed was not a bit like the actual film. Aged 21. Nationality, English. No profession — -just ordinary factory worker. 3. A TENTATIVE INTERPRETATION We have printed the above documents in the exact form in which we received them without any regard to grammatical or orthographical correctness. (Only in those very rare cases where the text was in danger of remaining unintelligible have we for example allowed ourselves to put a stop and to begin a new sentence.) 259
