March 15, 1922 THE TALKING MACHINE WORLD 49 PLAN FOREIGN TRADE CONVENTION Vital Expert Problems Affecting American Business Will Be Considered at Convention in Philadelphia During the Month of May Philadelphia, Pa., March 9. — The financing and expansion of foreign trade will be studied from various points of view by leaders of finance, industry and commerce at the ninth National Foreign Trade Convention to be held in this city May 10, 11 and 12. The Trade Adviser Service will be an outstanding feature of the convention. "Export advertising" will be handled in cooperation with the Association of National Advertisers and will include' the topics of "Sales Promotion Through Advertising" and "The Use of Dealers' Helps." The National Association of Credit Men will assist in a thorough discussion of the important subject of "Credit and Credit Information." Other topics to be discussed at the convention are: A practical method of putting our surplus gold to work in financing foreign trade. The exporters' view of the present attitude of banks toward foreign trade and the bank's view. The effect of high taxation on the exchanges. The factor of depreciated currency in competition. Why we must have foreign trade. Education for foreign trade. Banking facilities for foreign trade. Ocean carriage. Sales promotion. Factors that will help the exchange situation. Meeting preferential tariffs. A foreign trade policy for Americans.
