April 7, 1923. THE FILM RENTER & MOVING PICTURE NEWS. LESTER ‘ENTS HE story of ‘‘ LITTLE MEG’S CHILDREN,” by Hesba Stretton, authoress of ‘* JESSICA’S FIRST PRAYER,” is a classic in its particular sphere of literature, and since its first appearance has been read and re-read by many thousands of people in this country, and will continue to be read for many years to come. It tells a story which makes a ready and strong appeal to the emotions, and in picturising it the Seal Film Company, who were responsible for those most successful productions, ‘‘ DICK’S FAIRY,’’ “HER BENNY,” and ‘‘ JESSICA’S FIRST PRAYER,” have endeavoured to secure, and we are pleased to say, have succeeded in securing, through the medium of the film, those effects on the emotions that appeal to sentiment which has made the book so exceedingly popular. In presenting this picturised version of * LITTLE MEG’S CHILDREN to the exhibitors, and through them to the public, Albert Lester has not the least doubt that this film will be acclaimed a worthy addition to the British productions, and will enjov the same measure of popularity, if not more, than the book on which it is based. For filming purposes the action of the story was set in Southampton and Italy, and apart from the merit of the story this picture contains some striking and interesting scenes, including a realistic shipwreck, and a view of s:.s. ‘* Aquitania’”’ leaving her moorings at Southampton with full complement of passengers ez voute for America. Some of the scenes taken in Italy are of exceeding beauty, and in all its phases this picture, particularly the photography, attains a very high standard. al Four Northern Counties.
