=| wme a! April 21, 1923. THE FILM RENTER & MOVING PICTURE NEWS. THIS IS THE LETTER BLUE HALL CINEMA, UPPER STREET, ISLINGTON, Nel. ldéth April 1923. Jeffrey Bernerd, Esq., Managing Director, Stoll Film Co. Ltd. Dear Mr. Bernerd, Re ‘* THE PRODIGAL SON — THE RELURN OF THE PRODIGAL " Am very pleased to state that I have played to record houses during the screening of the above film, in spite of enormous attractions at the opposition Theatres, and being a week after Haster Monday, which is generally a slack period. I may add that business increased day by day and Thursday’s takings were even better than Monday’s. In my opinion the films cannot help but do big business, and my patrons have expressed their delight with them, In advertising these films I issued 5,000 slips of Sir Hall Caine’s letter, and 10,000 post cards of the leading artist, Colette Brettel as ** Thora’’ ; the total cost of advertising did not amount to Ten pounds. I may add that up to date the takings are very near the level of ‘‘ Orphans of the Storm,’’ which, of course, was a record. No other film has received such a warm reception in the history of this Theatre, Yours faithfully, (Signed) A, GOIDE. 27 L,Y SPP ae A ~> SS <i so meee eee ic H SSS en os
