Many members of the trade renewed acquaintance with the old players, and Mr. George Lund, as chairman of the Exchange, offered the Veterans a welcome to the Club.
Yorkshire and Stoll’s ‘‘ Love Lyrics.”
Yorkshire will have a special interest in the forthoomite Stoll production based on the late Amy Woodforde-Finden's ‘‘ Indian Love J.yrics,’’ for the lady composer lived for some time at the village of Hampsthwaite, near Harrogate, and only the other week a memorial to her was unveiled in the village church.
This event recalls the tragedy of the lady’s family, the first chapter of which was enacted in 1900 in South Africa, where one of Colonel and Mrs. Woodforde-Finden’s sons, witnessing the death of a brother, was shocked into epilepsy. He was brought to Hampsthwaite to live in the kindly care of a doctor, and twelve or thirteen years later was drowned in his bath whilst under an attack. He was buried in Hampsthwaite churchyard ; two years later his father was interred in the same grave, to be joined subsequently by his widow.
The unveiling of the memorial a fortnight ago is still fresh in the minds of the Yorkshire public.
The Easter Domino Tournament at the Kinema Exchange resulted as follows: (1) R. White (steward), prize £3; (2) M. Lawrence (Fox Films), £1 18s.; (8) Tom Shortridge, 10s.; (4) Alf.
