CRITICS OPINION : on to the work so well begun by the scenario writer and producer. The result is a film which on its artistic merits can confidently be numbered among the select company of the world’s best films. The subject of the film is rather gruesome, but it is dealt with so cleverly that its unpleasantness is difficult to realise until it is all over. This part of the film is magnificently acted by M. Kra:ss, and indeed the acting throughout is admirable. The sub-titles are commendably few, but quite enough to make the story clear, and some of the Corsican scenes are magnificent.
