2b THE FILM RENTER! & MOVING PICTURE NEWS: February 17, 1923. REVIEW OF NEW PRODUCTIONS—Continued. os = Faire Binney, as Hope, does thoroughly well from beginning to-end ofthis picture, her change of-dress and manners as the picture proceeds showing her development in an attractive manner. Some pretty. forest scenes showing the characters in the dappled shade of the trees call for. mention. The picture -opens briskly, but there are times later when a few judicious cuts would improve it and relieve it of some of the gloom it possesses. Were this done it would certainly commend itself to the exhibitor and the public much more readily. The Yosemite Trail. Fine scenic backgrounds in out-West picture. RELEASED BY FOX. Length, 4,725 ft. Release Date, November 5, 1923. OME fine sunlit mountain scenery, excellently photographed, provides the background for ‘‘ The Yosemite Trail,” a Fox offering trade shown this week. Irene Rich has the part of Eve Marsham, and interprets it with a taking tenderness, her opposite being Dustin Farnum, as Jim Thorpe. There is vigour as well as tenderness in the story, as one would gather from its title. .Eve Marsham, a novelist, has come to seek inspiration from the valley, and Jim Thorpe, in whose heart Eve has long been cherished, and Ned Henderson, Jim’s young conceited cousin, con i ScexeFuow: . Wardour Films offering that will make a useful Program pict ure. RELEASED BY WARDOUR FILMS. Length, Five Reels. Release. Date, September 10, 1923. ll lie’ SUPER SEX,” so the synopsis tells us, is the story 8 of a young man who knew all about women. That _ statement no one wishes to deny, if one is allowed to say that the particular trait credited to the young man does not get into the story. This does not mean that the picture is not an interesting one. Tts plot has done duty before, but the story is told in an acceptable form with a treatment that makes it worth while. Miles Brewster Higgins is the youthful son of the owner of a lumber yard in a small town, and has a sweetheart, Irene Hayes, who, soon after the picture opens, arrives and introduces J. Gordon Davis, a smart automobile salesman, of whom young Higgins becomes inordinately jealous, When she definitely refuses Miles he throws up his work, and later is induced by a cousin to invest his savings, only a hundred dollars, in an oil well. A few days later the stock bounds, and Miles is rich beyond his wildest dreams. He proceeds to treat thé girl cavalierly in return for her jilting, but the arrival of a letter from his cousin, declaring that the money entrusted for the purpose of investment was not invested in oil shares, gives him panic, and he sets out for South America. He changes his mind, however, and returns to firid that the letter is a boax, inspired by his grandmother to test his character. Then comes reunion with the sweetheart and the promise of good times in store. Charlotte Pierce is a very fascinating Irene Hayes, with a vivacity and style that is most pleasing. Tully Marshall has a characteristic part as the lad’s father, and Gertrude Claire makes the most of her réle as a nagging old grandmother. ‘‘ Super Sex’? will make an attractive program picture, pee with a little speeding up here and there,
