With a nice reservoir of talent to draw from, Talent Patrol doesn’t seem in any immediate danger of running out of acts. Even the music is GI, provided by the Ninth Infantry Division Band of Fort Dix, N. J. Mistress-of-Ceremonies is Arlene Francis, an old hand at putting con¬ testants at their ease, even if they’re wearing Army uniforms. Each week’s show features four acts, all from the same camp, a different one each week. The boys reach Manhattan on Wed¬ nesday, have three days for rehearsal, and are back in camp by Monday. But for the winner, Manhattan takes on a luster beyond a soldier’s wildest dreams. From the time he leaves the air, he’s off on a whirl¬ wind tour of Manhattan night spots, starting the evening with one of the top stage shows in town. Different places are visited each week. Pictured are some experiences en¬ joyed by Dick Lauren, a classical violinist from Philadelphia, who won on the November 14th show. 21
