WHAT’S IN STORE FOR ’54 For an idea of what viewers can ex¬ pect from television in the New Year, TV GUIDE called upon the men most qualified to venture predictions—^top executives of the four major networks. Actually, their statements are more than predictions, they are siunmaries of network planning for 1954. I Executives off Four Networks Tell Their Flans By Robert M. Weitman, Vice-President, American Broadcasting Company We at ABC-TV are endeavoring to bring to sponsors and to the public the best possible programs on a continued basis. On Jan. 3, 8 to 9 p.m. EST, ABC-TV will launch the fourth of its dis¬ tinguished full-hour drama series. Shortly thereafter, two more of ABC’s most recent talent acquisitions will make their debuts in regular programs. They are versatile Joel Grey and comedian-singer-dancer Sammy Davis, Jr., and the famed Will Mastin Trio. Their addition to our 1954 schedule will be good news to viewers who are applauding our great roster of new faces, top names, and significant programs. More big names and bright faces will join our “star-powered” lineup. Our plans include such stars as Eddie Albert, Judy Garland, Glenn Ford, Peter Lind Hayes, Mary Healy, Judy Holliday land Frank Sinatra. ABC-TV will increase daytime operations, nighttime scheduling, expand its coverage of news and bring other worthwhile new features to our youth. 10
