THE MAN WHO MADE Arthur Godfrey used to join Horry Rogue in these fast numbers before his operation. H arry rogue, an agile 37- year-old dancing master, is the man who made Arthur Godfrey dance and who is now busy making expert hoofers of all the little Godfreys. Harry, who holds special dancing classes for the Godfrey gang each week, hasn’t had to flunk a pupil yet. Rogue says Haleloke had to forget some of her hula rhythms to learn other steps. “Janette Davis is as good as any of the gang,” he says. “All she needs is confidence. After watching me go through a routine, Jan says she’ll never master it. But she does. Frank Parker and Marion Marlowe are both experienced dancers. “The best of the lot? Until his operation, I’d say Mr. Godfrey. He has a photographic mind. He used to watch the steps and then do them without a hitch. He’d even do the others’ routines to show how easy they were.” 11
