TV Teletype NEW YORK Bob Stahl reports: Godfrey and Friend s will be off the air during July and August, marking the first summer since the show's inception that it will vacation. The replacement has not been set. The morning Arthur Godfrey Time will continue through the summer, with the "friends" rotating vacations, and guest emcees substituting for GODFREY. Looks like virtually every telefilm series will use repeats of best shows this summer when the stars vacation. Even I Love Lucy, which was replaced last year by Racket Squad , will utilize re-runs this summer . . . Ford Theater re-runs will replace not only Ford Theater but also Circle Theater --under a different title, of course. * * * WALLY COX will join the crowded ranks of TV comedy husbands in mid-May. He'll be married on the Mr. Peepers program (but not in real life) to PAT BENOIT . . . STEVE ALLEN signed to do 15 of the 30 Your Sho w of Shows programs next season. Under producer-director MAX LIEBMAN's new format, STEVE will be more than just a program host--he'll participate in sketches, do musical numbers, etc. JANE WYMAN will be the next movie star to go TV. She's signed to do a telefilm series from Hollywood starting in the fall . . . PAT CARROLL, who was RED BUTTONS' TV girl-friend, and the SAUTER-FINNEGAN orchestra added to the line-up of regular performers on this summer's S at¬ urday Ni ght Rev iew . . . BUTTONS' TV girl-friend this year, BETTY ANN GROVE, may team with JOHNNY DESMOND to replace JANE FROMAN for the summer. Despite TALLULAH'S objections, the G00DS0N-T0DMAN office is cooking up a new show for her, to be titled The World of Tallulah Ban khead. It's slated for a fall premiere, with ABC get¬ ting first crack at it . . . WALTER O'KEEFE again fills in when HERB SHRINER vacations from his Two for the Mo ney this summer. FRANKIE LAINE enters the TV sweepstakes next fall with a new telefilm musical series to be produced by Guild Films, the outfit that now produces the LIBERACE Show, Life with Elizabeth and Joe Palo o ka . . . SAMUEL GOLDWYN interested in making a movie of "The Last Notch," super- Western recently televised on U.S. Steel Hour. * * * Starting this week, the three regular stars on Four - Star Play¬ ho use will be portraying the same character on each program he does. DICK POWELL will stick to his characterization of Dante, the gambler; CHARLES BOYER will concentrate on Dr. Pygmalion; DAVID NIVEN will play a character not yet selected.
