Set for the LELAND HAYWARD series on Monday nights on NBC are MARY MARTIN, DAVID NIVEN and JOSEPH COTTEN--all on the opening show. And for subsequent programs, TYRONE POWER, HENRY FONDA and ETHEL MERMAN. In addi¬ tion, ALFRED HITCHCOCK has signed to direct one program. * * * CBS* spectaculars, to go every fourth Wednesday night in place of Blue Ribbon Bouts, will be titled Best of Broad¬ way . and will star outstanding Broadway actors in such plays as "Idiot's Delight," "Philadelphia Story" and "Boys from Syracuse." And MAX LIEBMAN, whose Show of Shows opens its spectacular season with BETTY HUTTON, has also signed FRANK SINATRA, new comedian DICK SHAWN and others. * * * IMOGENE COCA'S new show, which goes Saturday nights at 9 on NBC, won't be a situation comedy. But it will carry a "thread of a story," according to NBC, and of course will have music . . . IMOGENE and SID CAESAR may reunite at least once next season, incidentally, as stars of one of LIEBMAN's spectaculars. * * * Pulitzer Prize Playhouse is being revived for next sea¬ son. But it's to be a telefilm series, produced in Holly¬ wood and syndicated to local TV stations . . . PETER LAWFORD's new telefilm show, to be titled Dear Phoebe. will star him as a reporter who writes an advice to the love¬ lorn column . . . GIL LAMB has finished the pilot film on his projected new series, Bozo, the Clown. * * * RAY MILLAND's Meet Mr. McNutlev will undergo a complete revamp¬ ing while it's off the air during the summer and repeats of the show fill in. HARRY TUGEND, the program's new producer, has several major changes in mind, chief among which is a title change from "McNutley" to "McNulty." Seems the original name confused too many viewers. * * * Producers of Jamie have decided to build the show around young BRANDON DE WILDE's growing-up process, a la Skeezix in the comic "Gasoline Alley." So don't be too surprised to see Jamie undergo the first pangs of puppy-love next fall as he wins his first girl friend--in the script. * * * VIVECA LINDFORS is the leading contender for the lead in ABC's Caf e Istanbul next season. That's the role MARLENE DIETRICH originated on radio . . . Atomic Attack, recently on TV H our, may be repeated in response to thousands of requests. Civil Defense groups have asked permission to show kinescopes to their staffs. * Trade-mark, Teletype Corp. 3
