HOW MILTON BERLE PLANS TO STAY Out In Front 'Uncle Miltie' makes rare trip into the sun to chat with Las Vegas bathing beauties. Come fall 1955 and The Milton Berle Show will be a half-hour situation comedy, on film, from Hollywood. “It’s time,” says Berle, more or less solemn¬ ly, “we made some money.” A paleface among the visiting In¬ dians, the comedian sat in the air- conditioned shade offered by the Ter¬ race Room of Las Vegas’ Sands Hotel. Mr. Berle is strictly an indoor man. It pained him to sit there, virtually alone, while a potential audience was cavorting outside, in and around the pool; but it pains him even more to be caught in the sun, of which he is no worshipper. “I don’t swim, either,” he admits. “When did I ever have time to learn?” 8
