NEW YORK TV Teletype Bob Stahl reports: It's not often that one TV comic likes another one. But JACK BENNY and GEORGE BURNS like JACKIE GLEASON'S talents so much that they want to star him in a feature-length movie which they'll produce and wholly finance. BENNY talked over the deal with GLEASON during his recent New York trip when he guested on JACKIE'S show. The movie will probably be filmed next summer. * * * GRACE KELLY will do her first TV show since she be¬ came a Hollywood star when she appears in P. SCOTT FITZGERALD'S "Rich Boy," on an upcoming Producers' Show- case spectacular." Producer FRED COE hopes to sign - MONTGOMERY CLIFT as her co-star. MISS KELLY starred when the play was presented several seasons ago on TV Playhouse — also produced by COE. * * * BIL and CORA BAIRD make their first TV appearance since exit¬ ing JACK PAAR's Morning Show, when they guest on "Babes in Toy- land, Dec. l8, lor a MAX LIEBMAN spectacular. ROBERTA PETERS also signed for that show ... And LIEBMAN's Jan. 2 spectacular again will co-star the big three -- JUDY HOLLIDAY, STEVE ALLEN and DICK SHAWN. BILL MAULDIN, who created the "Willie and Joe" car¬ toon characters, signed to star in an upcoming telefilm series based on his famous GIs. No word yet on who will play the other character . . . CBS scheduled a special one-hour show Jan. 9 titled Meet the Senators , in which viewers will get a chance to meet all the new senators recently elected. * * * NBC trying to talk FRED ALLEN into doing a humorous news an¬ alysis five evenings a week, in addition to a series based on his recent Allen's Sketchbook" ... The new Bob Cummings Show, a telefilm series in which the star plays a news photographer replaces The Hunter Sunday nights on NBC starting in January. ’ It's definite now for Kukla, Fran and Qllie to star in a special, hour-long Christmas show on ABC Christmas Day . , . And the annual Longlnes "Christmas Festival" will be staged the same day on CBS . . . ABC planning to move Soldier Parade from its present Sunday night period so that ARLENE FRANCIS won't have that mad dash each week from Parade to the What's Mv Line studio ——- ^ ^ * U M ABC has abandoned its original plans to televise other NCAA sports events, such as track and swimming meets, after the foot¬ ball season. No reason given . . .CBS, meanwhile, launches a 15-week series of Saturday afternoon Big 10 basketball games this week.
