Chicago' Chicago Dateline Channel Chatter: Sweet, demure, ultra¬ feminine Angel Casey has become a hot- rodder. She’s “souped up” her car to travel at a 120 m.p.h. clip and is plan¬ ning to enter local races next summer. Griffin Casey WBKB cohorts on Christmas night will bid “bon voyage” to weatherman Wayne Griffin for a week. He and Mrs. Griffin will sail off for a Carib¬ bean vacation cruise. Original Amateur Hour may return as a full-hour Sunday afternoon pro¬ gram starting Jan. 16. on NBC. Ted Mack, of course, will be back as emcee. Comedians notoriously borrow from comedians, but Jackie Gleason pulled a switch by lifting an idea from a dra¬ matic program. Studio One launched a big song hit, “Let Me Go, Lover,” by building a show around it. Gleason did the same thing with another tune, “My Love Song to You.” Sales are booming. Word is that John Ott’s How Does Your Garden Grow? will blossom forth as the first local NBC-TV colorcast. A veteran Windy City press scribe, Sig Sakowicz, has graduated to tele¬ vision. He’s doing a weekly stint as a commercial announcer. New Shows: Famous old-time enter¬ tainer Rufe Davis now has his own Chicago video series. Rufe, long ac¬ claimed for his barnyard mimicry, will star in a new WBKB weekday totfest. It replaces Santa’s North Pole Review (which was roundly panned for com¬ mercializing Christmas) in the 5 P.M. spot, starting Dec. 27. WBKB also is set for an even bigger video plunge—a venture that’s a cross between an aquashow and a disc jockey program. The show, untitled as yet but slated to begin Jan. 8, will boast bathing beauties, guest stars and a local celebrity. It will be a two-hour offering (il:30 P.M.-1:30 A.M.) Satur¬ day nights. Major portion of the show will emanate from a swank hotel pool. channels listed in program section CHICAGO, ILL. £} WBBM-TV (CBS) 410 N. Michigan Ave. Q WBKB (ABC) 20 N.
