TV Teletype* NEW YORK Bob Stahl reports; Judging from the wave of sponsorship cancellations, there will be a raft of new shows on TV next fall. Although some may sign with other sponsors or be syndicated, shows getting the ax after this season are: People Are Funny , the RAY BOLGER show and My Little Margie . Previously announced were the RAY MILLAND show and I Married Joan. * * * WALTER WINCHELL, leaving ABC after many years, talk¬ ing new program plans with NBC. He reportedly may em¬ cee a full-hour variety show Sunday evenings opposite ED SULLIVAN l s Toast of the Town. - * •- * — * - Blue Ribbon Bouts switches from CBS to ABC Wednesday nights, starting June 1. Opener on ABC will feature CARL "BOBO” OLSON either defending his middleweight title or going after a new crown . . . CBS claims it doesn't mind losing the fights because not enough good bouts are available. For example, the MARCIANO- COCKELL heavyweight title fight May l6 will be on theater TV only. * * * And with the Blue Ribbon time opening up on CBS, there is a chance U.S. Stee_l Hour may move into that period from ABC . . . JACK WEBB signed a new 10-year contract with NBC, meaning his Pete Kelly's Blues may roll soon. * * * BETTY CLOONEY, recently replaced on JACK PAAR's Morning Show by EDITH ADAMS, joining the ROBERT Q. LEWIS cast. She takes over for JAYE P. MORGAN, who's off on a night-club tour . . . PAAR, confirming that BETTY CLOONEY wants to marry PUPI CAMPO as soon as PUPI gets a divorce, said he warned he'd have to fire one if they married ("Our show is tough enough without newlyweds' prob¬ lems”), but added that isn't why BETTY left. EDITH was with PAAR before going into "Wonderful Town" on Broadway, and when she finished touring with the musical, she was rehired. * * * Talk being revived that NBC and CBS are planning mammoth "TV Cities" in midtown Manhattan. With both the PHIL SILVERS show and JACKIE GLEASON'S Honeymooners filming there, CBS, especially, needs more studio space. * * * ROD SERLING, who wrote "Patterns," nudging GORE VIDAL as TV's hottest writer. He's adapting "Sincerely, Willis Wayde," the new J. P. MARQUAND novel, for Climax! , plus RING LARDNER's "Cham¬ pion." And he's written an original play about Communist brain¬ washing of a GI war prisoner for U.S. Steel Hour Tuesday, Apr. 12. Titled "The Rack," it will star WENDELL COREY, KEENAN WYNN. * * * SID CAESAR has offered to film enough programs this summer to round out his current three-times-a-month live show into a weekly airing—provided, of course, that NBC can promise him such a time spot.
