Chicago" Martin Duggan TV GUIDE’S Anniversary Show: NBC- TV singing star Tony Martin, who will emcee TV GUIDE’S 2nd Anniversary Review this Friday (see page A-47), broke a long-standing rule to fulfill his current Chez Paree engagement. He filmed several of his Monday night NBC-TV shows. The handsome baritone prefers to do the show “live.” Jim Mor¬ an, also on the big TV GUIDE variety show, is just back from a Florida va¬ cation. It will be his first camera chore in over four weeks. June Valli, who will appear on the program with hubby Howard Miller, had to pantomime her Close-up songs recently when hard hit by a throat condition. She’s back to good health now. Tom Duggan and Danny O’Neil, slated to do a surprise dance duet on TV GUIDE’S show, have ordered fancy custom-made jackets. They had a spe¬ cial musical score written for the act and will be assisted by model Pat Vance. Imagine, Duggan singing and dancing! The Billy Williams Quartet, also booked for the show, will be making one of their rare TV appearances since the passing of Show of Shows. Inciden¬ Chicago Dateline tally, the whole cast must put in a full six hours rehearsal before the 10 P.M. telecast. Don’t miss it! Friday, Channel Q, 10 P.M. Channel Chatter: Super Circus hostess Mary Hartline and clown Nicky Fran¬ cis are due to be toasted at the Father and Son banquet of the Chicago Press Club, Apr. 22. Comic Irwin Berke and his family will be Europe-bound this summer. He plans a lengthy leave of absence from the Duggan daytime show. Burr Tillstrom, Fran Allison and the other Kuklapolitans are booked for a week of program originations from New York, starting Monday, Apr. 25. Lucky Ray Rayner has a pleasant off- camera assignment scheduled for the end of this month. He’ll journey to Benton Harbor, Mich., to crown a blos¬ som festival beauty queen there. New Shows: Two new local offerings just crashed the WGN-TV evening line¬ up: a sports stanza, “The Great Out¬ doors (Friday, 8 P.M.) and a variety program with service talent, Your Navy Show (Thursday, 8 P.M.).
