NEW YORK TV Teletype Bob Stahl reports: NBC's Saturday and Sunday night ''spectaculars are slated to run through the summer. JACK RAYEL, original producer of the Home show, will spell MAX LIEBMAN as producer . . . Despite a rumor of cancellation, ART LINKLETTER's People Are Funny has been renewed for next season, complete with 13 repeats auring the summer months. Filming for next season starts May 26. * * * PERRY COMO, just signed to a 12-year contract by NBC, will star in an hour-long variety show next fall, slated (at least for now) for the 8-to-9 Saturday night spot . . He does his last 15-minute CBS show July 1, then takes off for at least two months of golf and vacationing. * * * CBS, seeking a "family" type of show to replace COMO and the DOUGLAS EDWARDS news show, which moves to a new time, has tentatively set its new Gunsmoke series—described as an "adult Western program"--for the Wednesday night period opposite ABC's Disneyland . . . CBS is also trying to lure Rln Tin Tin , The Lone Ranger and The Name 1 s the Same from ABC for that early evening period three other nights during the week. * * * PIPER LAURIE and AKIM TAMIROFF join DICK POWELL and JACK LEMMON in the cast of "Broadway," scheduled for Best of Broadway Wednesday, May 4 . . . BETTY FURNESS takes over as hostess on CBS’ Morning Show for two weeks starting May 2, while JACK PAAR vacations. CLAUDETTE COLBERT set for a repeat performance on Climax! Thursday, May 19, playing the title role in "The Deliverance of Sister Cecilia" . . . Paramount, claiming The Millionaire is based on its old movie, "If I Had a Million," has been given an option on the series. This means a stipend from each show, plus the right to any TV material if they ever want to make a movie. * * * EDDIE FISHER will begin telecasting from Hollywood on Wednesday, Aug. 31 • . . And bandleader WOODY HERMAN may be EDDIE’s summer replacement. Whether he'd work alone or with his regular band hasn't been decided. * * * Pilot film of the new Wyatt Earp telefilm series, with HUGH O'BRIAN as the famed Western sheriff, has been completed and is being offered to potential sponsors . . . Although ABC still doesn't know whether RAY BOLGER will return next fall (his spon¬ sor has canceled), the network is planning to move DANNY THOMAS' Make Room for Daddy into BOLGER's present Friday night time spot * * * U.S. Steel Hour will repeat "Fearful Decision" on Tuesday, May 16, with RALPH BELLAMY and others of the original cast reprising their roles . . .
