MOVIE GUIDE Sports BY ED PAZDUR Another TV Tenpin Venture The craze continues. Bowling, already seen on Chicago television three nights each week, may pick up a fourth night’s exposure. WGN-TV and Sol Polk are hatching plans for a Sunday evening series with some novel twists. Format of the new hour-long bowling stanza would feature competition be¬ tween mixed professional doubles. Prizes offered by Polk would rival the generosity shown by Pete De Met on his Championship Bowling specta¬ cles. The winning team on each telecast would reap a neat $150, with the los¬ ing couple splitting a $100 consolation prize. Winners of a playoff at the end of each 13-week series would be even more richly compensated. The top male star would collect $1000 (or its equiv¬ alent in merchandise) while the high- scoring lady kegler would get the dream reward of every woman, a mink coat. At this writing, the show’s debut date is uncertain. It was tentatively due to roll this Sunday, Apr. 24, but the start may be delayed by construc¬ tion of facilities needed. At any rate, local bowling aces are already lining up eagerly for the program. Cuffnotes: It may come as a shock to the Illinois Athletic Commission, but the licenses of many fight judges active in Chicago have expired. These “lame ducks” keep other qualified applicants from getting a license. Dick Bingham, who earned plaudits as the announcer on WBBM-TV’s stock car races, has left Chicago for Pitts¬ burgh. He was signed this month to do play-by-play coverage of the Pirates. (Continued on page A-3) 12:00 MID. 5 "SOME CALL IT MURDER" (Drama) Michael Whalen, Rose Hobart.
