DATELINE FRIDAY (Continued, from page A-l) Play House mistress Angel Casey has hit upon a dramatic new way to teach geography. She’ll do a lesson on Africa this Monday, May 16, and to illustrate its mineral wealth will display over $100,000 in African gems. The stones, mostly uncut diamonds, will be lent, under heavy guard, by a local jeweler. Those popular mouth organ virtuosos, The Harmonicats, will be the top at¬ traction next Friday, May 20, on Jim Moran’s Courtesy Hour. The hit record¬ ing group is rounding out a night-club engagement in Chicago. Hi Ladies emcee Mike Douglas has taken an option on a spacious town house in River Forest. The Douglases— Mike, wife Genevieve and twins Chris¬ tine and Michele—have been living in an apartment in the suburb. Muscle-man Ed Allen presents his final Hi Club stanza of the season Saturday. He hopes to resume the teen-age series this fall. Chubby Jackson, WBKB’s jazz musi¬ cian-turned-comic, is dropping the “Prof. Chubbo” characterization he as¬ sumed for the Little Rascal film series. (See page 4.) He’ll continue as major domo of the show under his own name Tom Duggan’s fast-growing daytime show has added another regular cast member. He’s Kyle Kimbro, who has achieved some renown on local radio. Last month, Tom signed singer Betty Bryan and pianist Buddy Charles for his weekday variety opus. Ex-Chicago crooner Johnny Desmond continues his climb into the higher in¬ come brackets. He’s currently appear¬ ing at a swank night club in Boston and is drawing down $7500 a week.
