(ET) and will deal with what¬ ever the producers feel will interest children. In addition, CBS has added Tales of the Texas Rangers, which started a couple of Saturdays ago, and four adventure serials, beginning Sept. 26: Adventures of Robin Hood (Monday), Brave Eagle (Wednesday), Sergeant Preston of the Yukon (Thursday) and My Friend Flicka (Friday). NBC is getting into the horse-story revival with Fury, a film series de¬ rived from “Black Beauty.” Jungle Queen: lovely Irish McCalla, as Sheena, goes inW action soon. On another front, there are at least six 90-minute shows being planned for the youngsters, including “Heidi” and “Alice in Wonderland.” A nximber of favorite children’s shows are due back this fall. Howdy Doody, which will have its eighth anniversary come December, began colorcasting five times a week Sept. 12 and at the same time introduced a new character, Heidi Doody, and two new features—a travel series by Low¬ ell Thomas, Jr. called “Flight to Ad¬ venture” and an African series in color shot right in the jungle. And talking about color. Pinky Lee —complete with a circus background —will be telecast in rainbow hues. In addition to all this, there are hordes of syndicated shows, from Andy’s Gang (Andy Devine succeeds the late Eld McConnell) to a couple of new jungle entries; namely. Jungle Jim and Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.
