The ac¬ cent is on entertainment, but dozens of aspects of Amreican life — current events, literature, finance stories—will be touched upon. (Hollywood) Groucho Marx acts as host and com¬ mentator. He will discuss events of the year with newsman H. V. Kaltenborn and sing Kurt Weill's "September Song," from the 1938 Broadway mu¬ sical, "Knickerbocker Holiday." Ethel Barrymore re-creates her role as the matriarch in the hit play of that year, "Whiteoaks." Oscar Levant, at the keyboard, recalls 1938's hit tunes. Gordon Jenkins leads the orchestra as Levant plays parts of "Concerto in F." Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan re¬ calls his flight to Ireland. Sports events are covered in part by Ted Husing. News events will be covered in part by H, V. Kaltenborn. Ballets will include a satire on the Stanislavsky method of acting, choreo¬ graphed by Miriam Nelson; and a ver- sioin of James Thurber's fable, "The Moth and the Star." Jonathan Winters does a comedy turn. Sue Carson gives imitations of some of the pop singers of 1938. and joins Jonathan Winters in some comedy sketches.
