PERLE MESTA, whose dual career as U.S. Minister to Luxembourg and famed Washington hostess inspired IRVING BERLIN's "Call Me Madam," has temporarily shelved plans for a weekly TV show. The "hostess with the mostest" wasn't happy with her proposed sponsor (a beer company), and also felt she rated one of the three major TV networks rather than the smaller Du Mont network.
