TV Coverage of Election Returns Local viewers will be kept on top of the latest local election results on Tues¬ day, Nov. 2, via the three Philadelphia TV stations. WPTZ, local NBC outlet, will, of course, carry the scheduled network election coverage from 9:30 P.M. to 1 A.M. Channel 6 plans to break away from the network for five-minute in¬ tervals before the half-hour and the hour, starting at 9:55 P.M. During these five-minute breaks, Dick McCutchen and Taylor Grant will present the latest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey returns. Taylor Grant’s regular 11 P.M. newscast will be pre¬ sented as usual, so that the latest news from other fronts can be reported. WFIL-TV plans to present reports and analyses of the important guber¬ natorial and congressional races in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York and Maryland. Under the supervision of Charles Harrison, director of news and spe¬ cial events, field reporters will be as¬ signed to key headquarters of both parties in Philadelphia, Harrisburg and other strategic locations. “Cut-ins” will be made on locally originated programs when necessary. WCAU-TV, local CBS affiliate, plans to telecast the network election pro¬ gram from 9 P.M. to 1 A.M., with eight five-minute breaks to be made for local election news. These breaks will be made five minutes before the half- hour and the hour, starting at 9:25 P.M., with Bob Collier reporting the latest local developments. The 11 P.M. news and 11:10 P.M. weathercast will be presented as usual and at 1 A.M. Charles Shaw, WCAU news editor, will present a local sum¬ mary of election results. MR. CHANNEL 8 *3
