Ernie Lotinga will always remain Ernie to the theatre-going public in spite of Iiis i-ecent efforts to be known a Ernest. Ernie Lotinga "sings like a nightingale, but the nightingale is dead"; he also "dances in punips, but he has lost bis pumps"; Ernest Lotinga migbt not be able to do such things, or at any rate not quite so gracefully. Well, then, Ernie Lotinga was born and educated. Later he toured the LTnited States no fewer than three times and also inade a coniplete tour of Australia and of the North Islands of New Zealand. He graduated on the English and American variety stage, at first playing bis own comedy sketches and subsequently all-night comedy burlesques. "The Police Force", "August 1914", "Ernie's End" and "Convicts" are some of the plays in Avhich he has appeared in London with great success.
Düring Iiis twenty years' associatioii with the Westend Theatre he has produced a large nuinber of coniedies without having to register a Single failure, whicli niust be regarded as a record. Ernie Lotinga began bis film career with a series of half liour comedy sketches. eventually followed by a füll length comedy film called "P. C. Josser", whicli proved a great success. He is now engaged in inaking a second comedy film entitled "House Füll". Ernie Lotinga not only acts in coniedies, but also writes them and is, as we have Seen, a most successful producer.

Er trat an allen ersten Varietebühnen Englands und Amerikas auf, sehr oft mit eigenen Sketches. In London errang er seine größten Erfolge in den folgenden Stücken: „The Police Force", ..August 1914". ..Ernie's End", „Convicts" und vielen anderen.
Während einer zwanzigjährigen Tätigkeit am Westend Theatre hat er zahllose Possen und Komödien herausgebracht, unter denen nicht ein einziger Mißerfolg war, und damit einen Rekord aufgestellt. Beim Film begann seine Tätigkeit mit einer Serie kleiner Sketches, denen das Lustspiel ..P. C. Josser" folgte. Zur Zeit ist er an der Arbeit für einen neuen Tonfilm. ..House Füll", der bald herauskommen wird. Ernie Lotinga ist nicht nur ein vielgesuchter Darsteller komischer Rollen, dem es stets gelingt, sein Publikum zu begeistern, er ist auch ein sehr erfolgreicher Scbi-iftsteller. Eine Menge witziger Sketches und die Texte zu einer ganzen Reihe von Lustspielen, die bei Bühne und Film zur Aufführung kamen, stammen von ihm.
