It would be futile to attempt an appreciation of bis art or an analysis of his methods within the limits of the available space. All it is possible to do here is to refer to one reniarkable effect which he never falls to achieve in the sacrificial röles for which he is generallv cast. In some subtle way he manages to "put across" his own attractive personality through the character which he happens to be plaving. with the result that the audience not only enjoy his Performance but remember it for a long time as an interesting personal experience. 424
