Later in the year he played the Messenger Boy in "Girls" at the Prince of Wales"s Theatre. Between 1914 and 1919 he served in the Army, and it was only after his deniobilisation that his theatrical career really began. His first post-war part was that of the Soldier in "Judith" at the Kingsway Theati'e, followed by principal röles in a large number of plays, both in London and in the provinces. The plays in which he has scored notable personal hits include, among many others, "Nothing but the Truth". "Eyes of Youth", "Come out of the Kitchen", "The Safetv Match", "Loyalties", "R. U. R.", "Lilies of the Field", "A Magdalen's Husband", "The Eikes of Her", "Pansy's Arabian Night", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "The River", "The Unfair Sex", "This Woman Business", "The Blue Mazurka", etc. Recently he achieved considerable success in the spectacular play "White Horse Inn". Naturally, an actor of Clifford Mollison's calibre could not stay away froin the screen even had he desired to do so. In "Alinost a Honeymoon ", made for British International Pictures at Elstree, he proved that he was a valuable acquisition to the talking screen. He has the rare capacity of niaking his audience sniile inwardly by everything he does, though he can also evoke loud laughter when he likes. Kürzlich hatte er sehr beachtenswerten Erfolg im Lustspiel „Das weiße Rößl". Selbst wenn er es gewünscht hätte, wäre es Clifford Mollison auf die Dauer unmöglich gewesen, sich vom Film fernzuhalten. In ..Almost a Honeymoon". das von der British International Pictures in Elstree gedreht wurde, zeigte er zum erstenmal, welch eine wertvolle Akquisition er für den Film bedeutet. Clifford Mollison besitzt die Fähigkeit, die Stimmung des Publikums vom inneren Lächeln bis zu Lachsalven zu steigern. 430
