CLAUDE FRIESE-GREENE British International Pictures, Ltd., Elstree, Hertfordshire T: Elstree 271 AP • CB Claude Friese-Greene, one of Englands foremost cameranien, started work in that capacity for the Brigthonia Film Company, at a salary of £5 per week when lie was fourteen. In spite of his extreme youth, he photographed some of the first full-length films made in this countiy, including "East Lynn" and "The Stranglers of Paris'. Experiniented with his father, William Friese-Greene, in colour cinematography. 1912 — 13, took out patents himself and formed a Company to exploit "The Flag of Nations", which was produced hy the new process and proved successful. At the age of seventeen he joined the Royal Air Force, where he started the Aerial Cinematography Section. After heing invalided out of the Army during the war, he continued with aerial photography and photographed many parachute descents of a douhle for Eddi Polo. He also resumed his colour photography experiments, having previously heen in charge of the laboratories of British & Colonial Films. 1923 — 24, made a series of colour pictures calied "The Open Road" for Wardour Films, Ltd. Followed an engagement with Famous Players Lasky Corporation in New \ork, then, in 1928, he joined British International Pictures and has since photographed a large number of successful pictures, including "Widdicomhe Fair", "The Romance of Seville'', "Under the Gieenwood Tree", "Young Woodley", "Loose Ends", "Cape Forlorn", "My Wife's Family", "Uneasy Virtue", "The Flying Fool", and "The Shadows Between". Claude Friese-Greene, einer der bedeutendsten Kameramänner Englands, arbeitete in dieser Eigenschaft schon mit vierzehn Jahren für ein Gehalt von 5 engl. Nachdem er während des Krieges als Invalide entlassen worden war, setzte er die Aufnahmen vom Flugzeug aus fort und brachte mehrere Fallschirmabsprünge eines Doubles von Eddie Polo auf den Streifen.
