Since then she has played all kinds of parts in plays of all types and periods, froni Shakespearean drama down to the niost modern stage successes, such as Fred Lonsdale's "The High Road", etc. In recent years Margaret Emden has scored in a variety of röles at practically every London theatre, induding the Savoy, Glohe, Comedy, Apollo, Strand, Fortune, Little, etc. etc. She made her film debut in 1916 at the London Film Company's Studios, where she was engaged on the strenglh of her stage work. Later she secured contracts from the Ideal Film Co. and the Windsor Film Co. On the talking screen she made her first appearance in the Gaumont production "Bracelets", playing opposite Bert Coote, the well-known star. This was followed by "Big Business" for the Fox Film Co. At present she is playing Lady Ann in "Elizabeth of England" at the Cambridge. Margaret Emden begann ihre Bühnenlaufbahn in Sir Frank Bensons Theatergesellschaft vor zwanzig Jahren. In dieser Zeit spielte sie Rollen jeder Art und jedes Fachs in Stücken jeden Charakters und jeder Zeit, vom Shakespearedrama bis zu den modernsten Bühnenstücken, wie Fred Lonsdale's „The High Road" usw. In den letzten Jahren hat Margaret Emden in einer Reihe führender Rollen tatsächlich an jedem Londoner Theater gespielt. Ihr Filmdebüt fand im Jahre 1916 in den Studios der London Film Company statt, wo sie auf ihre großen und ehrlichen Bühnenerfolge hin verpflichtet wurde. Späterhin schloß sie ab mit der Ideal Film Co. und der Windsor Film Co. Im Tonfilm erschien sie zuerst in dem Gaumont-Film „Bracelets", wo sie die Partnerin von Bert Coote, dem bekannten Star, war. Nach „Big Business" bei Fox spielt Margaret Emden jetzt die Lady Ann in ..Elizabeth of England". Barbara Everest started her stage career in the provinces. A first London engagement with Granville Barker was followed by many others, in the course of which she played principal röles in a large number of classical and modern plays. As leading lady at the Old Vic' she played among others, the parts of Rosalind, Viola, Portia, Ophelia, Desdemona, Helena, Lady Macbeth, and the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet. Has played a great deal in Ibsen, Bjornson and Shaw plays, induding "The Gauntlet", "The King", "The Wild Duck", "Pillars of Society", "Hedda Gabler", "Fanny's First Play", "Pygmalion" and "The Apple Cart". Scored notable personal successes in Martinez Sierra's "The Cradle Song" and "Kingdom of God". Barbara Everest has had considerable experience on the silent screeri. "The Hypocrites", "The Man Without a Soul", "Not Guilty", "Whosoever Shall Offend" and "The Bigamist", are a few of her most important films. Barbara Everest begann ihre Künstlerlaufbahn in der Provinz, wo sie an verschiedenen Bühnen erfolgreich tätig war, ehe sie ihr erstes Engagement in London bei Granville Barker erhielt. Sie wurde anschließend weiter verpflichtet und machte sich bald auch in der englischen Hauptstadt einen Namen. Ihre bedeutendsten Rollen waren Rosalinde, Viola, Portia, Ophelia, Desdemona, Helena und Lady Macbeth, ferner errang sie große Erfolge in Stücken von Ibsen, Björnson und Shaw, z. B. in „Der König", „Die Wildente", „Die Stützen der Gesellschaft", „Hedda Gabler", „Pygmalion", „Fanny First Play", „The Apple-Cart" u. a. In Martinez Sierras „The Cradle Song" und „Kingdom of God" konnte sie ganz besondere Erfolge für sich buchen.
