London debut in a leading röle at the Pavilion Theatre, Mile End. In 1912 went to the Garrick Theatre, playing iniportant parts under Arthur Bourchier's management. Appeared with H. B. Irving in "The Beils", "The Barion Mystery"' and "The Professor'« Love Story". Has created principal roles in nearly forty Westend productions, including "Quarantine", "Secrets", "Arms and the Man", "The Iniportance of Being Earnest", in which she played Lady Brackneil, and many other famous plays. In 1929 made a notable personal hit as the Mother in 'The Storni", preceded and followed by others, partly in similar röles and partly in comedy and grande dame parts. Needless to say, Margaret Scudamore has also appeared in Shakespearean drama, which is probahly where she developed her faculty of conveying an inner dignity by her bearing. Born in 1903, Mary Sheridan began her highly successful stage career at the age oft twenty iii 'Tt Pays to Advertise", rising always higher and higher on the theatrical firmament through such plays as Bernard Shaw's adaptation of "Gitta's Atonement", Komissarjeffky's production of Tchekov's "The Three Sisters". the stage Version of "Jew Süss", and many others. Her first screen appearence was in "Cupid in Clover". and her first talkie "The City of Song", followed by "The Professional Guest". Mary Sheridan plays juvenile women, "modern" types and vamps, and includes among her accomplishments a fluent knowledge of French. A great name, as everyone knows, is sometimes a tremendous responsibility, but everyone concerned with the theatre knows, too, that Mary Sheridan is living up to it. Auch auf diesem neuen Gebiet blieb der Erfolg ihr treu. Mary Sheridan spielt bevorzugt jugendliche Frauen modernen Typs. Ein großer Name bringt es mit sich, daß große Ansprüche gestellt werden.
