Sabols L. Fenes, einer der erfolgreichsten ungarischen Komponisten der Gegenwart, ist am 30. April 1911 in Großwardein geboren. Er erhielt seine musikalische Ausbildung an der Budapester Musikakademie unter Professor Siklos und galt schon in seiner fi-ühen Jugend als \^underkind: von seinem 12. bis 14. Jahre schrieb er bereits Kompositionen, die mit Erfolg aufgeführt wurden. So eine symphonische Dichtung und zwei Quartette, die die Musikakademie der Oeffentlichkeit vorführte. Bis zu seinem 18. Lebensjahr beschäftigte sich Sabols L. Fenes nur mit ernster Musik, aber dann erfolgte der Uebergang zur heiteren Kunst. Kurz darauf wurden bereits drei Operetten von ihm aufgeführt: „Harem", „Maya" und „Manolita", von denen die beiden letzteren den Weg an die größten europäischen Bühnen fanden und den Namen des jugendlichen Komponisten weit über die Grenzen Lngarns hinaus bekannt machten. Die letzte Tonfilmkomposition ist „Rauch" („Füst").

One of the most successful Hungarian composers of the present time; bom on April 30, 1911, in Nagyvärad; studied at the Budapest Academy of Music under Professor Siklos, and was in bis early boyhood regarded as a prodigy; between the ages of 12 and 14 years wrote a number of compositions which were performed with success, including a Symphony and two Quartets which were publicly performed at the Academy; up to the age of 18 confined himself to serious music, then changed to light music and composed three operettes — "Harem", "Maya" and "Manolita" — the last two of which have been presented at the leading European theatres, carrying the young composer's fame far beyond the frontiers of bis native country; also composed the music for the talking film "Füst",
