Reiten, Schlittschuhlaufen Cyril Ritchard kam im Januar 1925 aus Australien nach New York und wurde sofort von Dillingham als Partner von Elsie Jane für die jugendliche Hauptrolle in „Puzzles of 1925"" engagiert. Ende desselben Jahres noch ging er nach London und war dann an mehreren Westendbiihnen für jugendliche Liebhaberrollen in Operetten verpflichtet. Er zog die Aufmerksamkeit des bekannten deutschen Filmmannes E. A. Dupont auf sich, und dieser holte ihn für eine tragende Rolle in ..Piccadilly", seinem ersten und letzten Stummfilm. Kurz darauf wirkte er in dem ersten englischen Tonfilm „Blackmail" mit, für die British International Pictures. Seit dieser Zeit hat Cyril Ritchard in einer ganzen Reihe von Filmen erste Rollen übernommen, u. a. in dem Gainsborough-Film „Just for a Song" die des Schurken und in der Filmversion von „A Symphony in Two Fiats", wo er mit Ivor Novello und Benita Hume zusammenspieite. Letzte Bühnenengagements: „Blue Rose" und „Hold my Hand" als erster Komiker unter der Regie J. C. Williamson's in Australien. E 13
