2 Universal Weekly Januaby 28, 1928 THE GREAT No. 568. — Straight from the Shoulder Talk by Carl Laemmle , President of the Universal Pictures Corporation LAURA LA PLANTE has now developed into the screen’s great comedienne. I know of no close second to her. I know of none who compares with her in ability as a pantomimist; none who has such a rare combination of beauty and cleverness; none who is so wholly the very incarnation of youth and joyousness! Yes, it’s a big order. But she (ills it to the full and overflowing. Soon you will see her in “Finders Keepers.” The fact that this story was written by Mary Roberts Rinehart is a powerful box-office argument. The fact that it is the best picture Wesley Ruggles ever directed is another. The fact that the superb cast is headed by such performers as John Harron and Edmund Breese is still another. But the big fact which stands out in bold relief is the fact that this whole picture is Laura La Plante at the peak and pinnacle of her best.
