E.MPIKE (Hal Curtis. mgr.>.—Week 9: The Lyle-Munro Company, with their cartoon comedy, "A Mutt." was the featured attraction, and proved a big drawing card. The Oolden Gate Quintet, a colored aggregation, proved themselves entertainers of a good standard. Daly and O'Briea, comedy sketch artists, scored success- fully in "one." A. Spera and Company offered the racing playlet, "Jockey Jones." GLOBR (Sid Granman, mgr.).—Week 9: Cockey CBrieo, a well-known character about town, was given prominence In the billing. Mlddleton's Mili- tary Quartet, Tracy and Carter, Glenroy and Russell, The Nellofl, and Basse and Manette con- stituted the olio. The Jack Mathews Company, in a lively farce, completed the program. Katheryn has the looks and car> riage, singing above the average, and her fresh appearance is a valuable adjunct. Violet is an energetic young woman, the Eva Tanguay of burlesque, never quiet, even when she should be standing still. Naturally she is a lively soubrette, and a good one, without any marked qualities in her singing voice. Grace Patton has not an overimportant part, while there is a character of a S'paniard, badly placed and badly handled by Grover Schepp. : . •; The costuming is decidedly tasteful in several of the numbers, and the burlesque managers might take "The Rollickers** for a model. It is what a burlesque show should be. Sime. Are You Going to Europe? CORRECTION. The report from San Francisco In VARIETY. February 29. 1908. for the National Theatre. week February 17, commented on The Eddy Family. Mr. Wll8on. VARIETY'S San Francisco representative, has requested that his re- port on the act, which became transposed in the printing, be again published in Jus- tice to the act. Mr. Wilson's copy read: "The Eddv Family, wire act, were last on the program and first In the public's estimate, excelling anything in wire work ever shown In this territory. Two youngsters, a boy and girl, crown the net. The mHs offers a sensa- tional routine, with lightning rapidity. The boy*8 full flip-flop on the wire still re- mains the star trick." BOSTON By ERNEST L. WAITT. VARIETY Office, Colonial Building. KEITH'S (H. D. Dupee, mgr.).—Jessie Mill- ward, headlined in "A Queen's Messenger." While the sketch Is strong and interesting. It does not seem to give Miss Millward enough op- portunity. Albert Whelan made his first appear- ance here, Juni|>ing Into popularity Instantly. He combined whistling and singing, and got great applause. John Hyams and I^MIa Mclntyre are immensely popular here, their home. Lew Sully has some new patter, and Terley, Impersonator, does some clean cut work that people seem to like. Rossi's musical horse, "Emir," Is a won- der. The OllvottI Troubadours have a very high class musical act. and J, Warren Kean puts up extra good slelght-of-hand work that really Inter- ests people. Tony and Erna Balliott. gymnasts; The Berkes, Josephine Pavis and Hice Brothers com- plete the bill. ORrilEUM (S. A. Mowry. mgr.).—With Wm. Courtleigh and "reaches" on the bill, and Mr. O'Connor playing "BUT," this act easily jumped far ahead of everything else except Frank Fog- arty, who made the most of St. Patrick's week here. Wynn and Lewis do their entertaining chatter well. The boy with the hat gets better every time he comes to Boston. W. S. Harvey, heavy weight Juggler, brings out the "Ohs" and "Ahs" and the applause. Sterling and Revell on the horizontal bars get In more comedy than do most teams. The "Four Girls" hiivc rather a novel act, and the Elite Musical Four \*]»y on various Instrumejits. Jewell's Manikins close the show. An aerial ballet Is a new feature In this act. HOWARD (Jay Hunt. mgr.>.- Frances Bishop. Bartoletti, cannot dance, which is a pity since the Mile, can—on her toes—but she has no chance with the bunch of females around her, nor the cos- tumes they wear.
