Arthur Laramee, Montreal lawyer, is the new chairman ^of the Quebec Moving Picture Censor Board, re- placing Eugene Beaulac. Legislation authorizing the Lieutenant-Gov- ernor in Cpuncil to rebuild the board and broaden its scope of activities was passed by the i^ucbec Govern- ment three months ago. This means stricter supervision of all pix coming into this province and particularly of those based on or dealing with divorce in addition to the ban against crime and violence pix already in force. When the measure was under dis- cussion. Premier Duplessis staled that action was under consideration to permit minors under IC, barred for the past 10 year's from admis- sion to picture theatres, to see pic- tures from which they might bene- fit.
