If the opposite side is also an opera air in English, then the selections are reversed and repeated further down the column (see Carmen and Trovatore airs above) to give the second title its own proper position. Great Value of the Subject Headings. Are you interested in Beethoven’s compositions? Turn to “ Beethoven’ and you will find the date of his birth and death, and a list of all his compositions which have been recorded by the Victor. Do you want some records especially for your children? Turn to ‘Children’s Records” and find a carefully selected list. The Victor presents in this new catalogue more than seven hundred opera selections, listed under the singers’ names and under the title of the operas, with both the original title and the English translation given; the selections being printed in the exact order in which they occur in the performance, with’ the acts correctly indicated in the more important operas—a feature of the greatest value to those interested in opera. Possible Errors—Suggestions. With such revolutionary changes and the great labor involved in compiling a first edition of so comprehensive a catalogue, some errors are doubtless inevitable.
