ABOTT, BESSIE, Soprano Bessie Abott began her musical career a few years ago in light opera, and although in a measure successful, she was ambitious and determined to study for grand opera. After some years’ work she made her debut at the Paris Opera in Romeo and Juliette with much success. Engagements in various European cities followed and in 1 908 the soprano was secured by the Metropolitan in New York where she remained several seasons before returning to Europe. Last season she sang in the brilliant revival of Robin Hood. Miss Abort’s voice is pure and sweet, her tones possessing the freshness of youth, the upper notes ""’t oun>« being exquisite in their beauty and clearness.
