TERRY, ELLEN ALICIA, Actress
The Victor announces a series of Shakespearean selections by one of the most famous of living actresses, Ellen Terry. This artist was born in 1848 at Coventry, England, her parents being well-known actors. Her first appearance on the stage was made at the age of eight in “A Winter's Tale." After several years with various stock organizations, she joined Henry Irving’s company, playing Katherine in “Taming of the Shrew,” and thus began the long association with this great actor which terminated only at his death in 1905.
Miss Terry has recited for the Victor portions of the works in which she has made her greatest successes, and the seues forms a most interesting souvenir of this noted actress. iuu;v

Mme. Tetrazzini has made one of the greatest successes in operatic history in this country, and has met with a reception almost unparalleled. The great Manhattan and Metropolitan Opera Houses in New 'I’ork have been crowded every time the famous soprano has appeared, and she has been greeted with a series of tremendous ovations.
It is not the habit of blase New York audiences to go wild over a singer, but the Tetrazzini performance* have been the scenes of some most remarkable outbursts of enthusiasm.
it is but eight years since the management of the Tivoli Opera House in San Francisco first brought Tetrazzini to the attenbon of the English-speaking world. Other countries had already discovered in her work qualifies of extreme excellence; but it remained for San Francisco to make her “world famous." Her triumphs in London, New York and elsewhere are too well known to require further mention.
Tetrazzini’s last tour, embracing twenty of the largest cities, vvas a succession of ovations. It is a wonderful voice with which this great soprano is electrifying her audiences ; remarkable m its purity and great range, while her colorature work is extremely brilliant.
It IS perhaps enough to say here that this marvelous voice has been recorded in all its beauty and power on these twenty-nine superb Victor records, and the list contains a!l the numbers with which Mme. Tetrazzini has made her greatest triumphs.
Mme. Tetrazzini makes records exclusively for the Victor.
