This young ‘cellist, who has attained great popularity during his three years in America, hasbeen engaged to make records exclusively for the Victor.
Hans Kindler was born in Rotterdam, Holland, in 1892, and was educated in the high school and university of that city. When he was nine years old he began to play the ‘cello, and later attended the Rotterdam Conservatory, where he studied under Mossel, Gerardy and Casals. He was for two years solo ‘cellist, at the Charlottenburg Opera, Berlin, and taught the ‘cello at the Scharwenka Conservatory. Mr. Kindler has appeared with the principal orchestras in Berlin, Amsterdam, Birmingham and Hanover, under such famous conductors as“° # Mengelberg, Kunwald, Schénberg, Landon Ronald, etc. He Ea has played in joint recitals with Julia Culp, Xaver Scharwenka and Ferruccio Busoni, who, last summer, dedicated to him a transcription of a Chromatic Fantasy by Bach. He has also had the honor of playing for the Queen of Holland and for the Prince and Princess of Wied in Berlin. In 1914 Mr. Kindler was engaged for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and is now, at the age of twenty-five, the solo ‘cellist of that organization.
