VICTOR RECORDS | Namber | 53 JACOBSON, SASCHA, Violinist This young player, who is a pupil of Franz Knee! may almost be called a ‘‘ prodigy,” as he is barely twenty-one years of age, and he is certainly one of the most promising players who has been heard in a very long time. He is of Russian birth, but came to America with his parents in 1906 and was placed under the guidance of Franz Kneisel. The Victor Company, realizing that young Jacobson may yet rank among the greatest players of the time, has secured him for a series of records, four of which are now presented. The numbers selected include popular compositions by Handel, Schumann and Renard. The young comedienne’s command of dialects is a most unusual gift—no matter what she undertakes it is sure to be a finished piece of character delineation. Miss Janis was one of the stars of the ‘Lady of the Slipper” production, and the combination of Montgomery-StoneJanis was certainly the strongest all-star feature in the musical comedy field. She has recently returned to America after a splendidly successful season in London, and is now with ‘“The Century Gul.” ‘PHOTO WHITE vans JANIS RECORDS Fo’ de Law’'d's Sake Play a Waltz Janis 60091 10! .75 When Antelo Plays the ‘Cello Jtalian dialect Janis|60093 10) .75 JANPOLSKI, ALBERT, Baritone Albert Gregorowich Janpolski, the Russian baritone, is wellknown on the concert stage in America, his resonant voice and artistic singing being familiar to concert-goers. Such is the interest that has lately been aroused in Russian music that Mr. Janpolski has been asked to sing for the Victor some of the well-known Russian folk songs which he has been using in his concerts. Some of these typical folk-song melodies have been used by modern composers as themes.
