He is of Russian birth, but came to America with his parents in 1906 and was placed under the guidance of Franz Kneisel. The Victor Company, realizing that young Jacobson may yet rank among the greatest players of the time, has secured him for a series of records, four of which are now presented. Such is the interest that has lately been aroused in Russian music that Mr. Janpolski has been asked to sing for the Victor some of the well-known Russian folk songs which he has been using in his concerts. Some of these typical folk-song melodies have been used by modern composers as themes.
