The respective admirers of Battistini and Ruffo in Europe are engaged in a warm argument as to which is the greater artist. [his is a question which the Victor will not attempt to decide, but will be content to offer records of both singers and leave the judgment to the public. At any rate, no one will deny that Battistin 1s possessed of a most beautiful voice, or that he sings with an exquisite art. Battistini is a warm frrend of Massenet, and it is said BATTISTINI that the composer changed the music of Werther to accommodate it to the baritone’s range of voice. Battistini’s impersonations of Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, Mephistopheles, Renato and Lionel are famous throughout Europe. It is with pleasure that we are able to offer five splendid solos by this famous singer, besides three selections from Ernani, made with the assistance of artists and chorus of La Scala, Milan, also the favorite La ci darem.
