VICTOR RECORDS BAYES-NORWORTH One of the most important engagements the Victor has yet made is that of Bayes and Norworth, who, with their inimitable foolery and clean fun, their admirable imitations and clever and witty songs, have become in a very short time two of the greatest favorites on the American stage. Miss Bayes is the life of every production with which she is connected, and gives a zest to every moment she is on the stage, while Jack Norworth is an unusually clever comedian and singer, besides being a song writer of note. This talented pair have sung for the Victor some of their greatest successes and the records are among the most entertaining in the catalogue. Bayes and Norworth make records exclu. sively for the Victor. It was not until 1903 that his voice attracted the attention of Walter Damrosch at a concert given by the New York Symphony Orchestra, when several local vocalists were chosen to sing numbers from Meistersinger. Conspicuous among these was Mr. Beddoe, who made a most favorable impression by his singing of the “‘ Preislied.’” The result was that Mr. Damrosch engaged him for the Berlioz celebration in New York, and the following spring he sang the Parsifal music on the six weeks’ tour of the Orchestra.
