When the little girl was two years old the family returned to New York. At an early age she began studying with Mme. Murio-Celli, and made her début in concert some years later in Chickering Hali, New York, with great success. In 188] she was engaged for the Mapleson Opera Company in London, and made her début at Her Majesty's Grand Italian Opera, June, 1881, where she remained three years. She was the first artist engaged when the American Opera Company was formed, singing six réles and one hundred and sixty-four times. On the closing of this company Mme.
