' RCA VICTOR CHROMIUM NEEDLES Two new types of needle, developed especially to reproduce present-day recording, and matched to the acoustic characteristics of modern RCA Victor instruments, are now available. They are of the semi-permanent type. The orange-chromium needle is intended for use with the longplaying record or program transcription. It is shaped and polished to fit and operate with a minimum of friction in the very fine grooves of the long record. It may be used also on standard records, if the tone-arm is properly counterbalanced. ‘The green-chromium needle is a long-wearing needle, fundamentally designed like the orange-chromium, but differing in the size of the point. Jt should be used only on standard-speed records. HOME RECORDING With the new RCA Victor instruments passes from the “toy” stage to that of a fascinating, and often useful and instructive musico-mechanism. Blank discs, which may be used for recording either at standard speed or as longplaying records, together with a greatly improved microphone and other controls, permit recording either from radio or actual performance with an extraordinary degree of musical quality and versimilitude. Special needles for use in making and playing home-recorded discs are available at your RCA Victor dealer’s. He will be delighted to have you | make an experimental record or two. RCA VICTOR INSTRUMENTS It would seem superfluous to mention the absolute necessity of using RCA Victor phonographs if you would extract from your Victor records all that is imprisoned within their shining grooves. Victor records and instruments perfectly complement each other; no other instrument can reproduce all that is on Victor records. Improvements in reproduction have moved forward, just as improvements in recording, and to appreciate the full beauty, the utterly convincing fidelity of the modern Victor record, it is imperative that you hear it reproduced by a modern RCA Victor instrument. Even if you now have a phonograph that satisfies you, we ask, in justice to the records into which so much effort, so much skill, and so much living beauty have been poured, that you go to an RCA Victor dealer and hear a record of today on today’s reproducing instrument. The result will be one of the most startling and delightful musical experiences you have ever had.
