DEATH CLAIMS FOUR FAMOUS PLAYERS MEMBERS
The Famous Family mourns the death of four other members —
Bob Fuller, senior member of the Audit Department who died suddenly three days after his 45th birthday which was on July 2nd. He began his career at Head Office in 1942.
Marcus Hirsch, who retired some years ago as manager of the Eglinton Theatre, Toronto, was born in 1880.
Will Harper, a long-time member of our 25 Year Club and manager of several of our theatres in the Okanagan Valley, B.C., died in his native England. Will had been retired for several years.
John L. Thomas, projectionist in the Capitol Theatre, Vancouver, died recently.
CLAUDE SMITH, MANAGER OF PARAMOUNT, CHILLIWACK, RETIRES
Claude Smith, long-time Famous Players’ manager in British Columbia, retired as manager of the Paramount Theatre in Chilliwack, B.C. in August. W. K. Keelan of the Columbia theatre, New Westminster, succeeded him as manager of the Paramount.
J. McNichol, assistant manager of the Orpheum theatre, Vancouver, was appointed manager of the New Westminster theatre.
EDDIE NEWMAN ASSISTANT DISTRICT SUPERVISOR IN WINNIPEG
Hilliard Gunn succeeds him at the Winnipeg Capitol.
Consistent with increased activity in the acquisition of existing theatres and planning of new theatres, and renovations, Mr. E. Newman has been appointed to a newly created position of Assistant District Supervisor and will move from the Capitol Theatre to the Winnipeg District Office.
At an early date he will visit our theatres in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, to familiarize himself with all aspects of your operations.
To fill the vacancy at the Capitol-Winnipeg Hilliard Gunn will move from the CapitolRegina.
