In a statement issued to the press, R. W. Bolstad, President and Managing Director of Famous Players announced that the Board of Directors of Famous Players at its quarterly meeting in Toronto on November 14th had elected Charles G. Bluhdorn a Director and Chairman of the Board, succeeding the late John J. Fitzgibbons, C.B.E.
Mr. Bluhdorn is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gulf and Western Industries, Inc.
Paramount Pictures Corporation, which owns about 51% of the shares of Famous Players was recently merged with Gulf and Western, which under Mr. Bluhdorn’s management team has, in a few years, become one of the largest corporations in the United States.
In his statement to the press Mr. Bolstad said that at a meeting with the management and other directors of Famous Players, Mr. Bluhdorn stated that his Company had no intention of disposing of its share interest in Famous Players and expressed the wish that management would continue to pursue an aggressive policy of expansion, not only in the motion picture theatre business and related fields of communication, but in other areas as well where investment opportunities become available.
FAMOUS DECLARES AN EXTRA DIVIDEND
The Directors of Famous Players, at their meeting on November 14th, declared a quarterly dividend of 27)2¢ plus an extra dividend of 10c per share, payable December 9th to shareholders of record as of November 23rd.

In December William N. Murray officially joins Famous Players’ Department Heads succeeding the late Jules Wolfe as head of the Company’s Engineering and Construction Department.
