A few years ago Roy acquired an interest in the Lincoln, which he has now sold to Famous Players giving our company full ownership of the property and operation. In his earlier days Roy was a member of the O.P.P. chasing rum-runners along the Detroit River. Prior to that he was a railway detective for Grand Trunk and Canadian National. He also served a spell with a detective agency in New Orleans. Roy has been an active participant in all intra-industry activities and has been active in all charitable undertakings in the city. We wish Roy and Marge a long life and lots of luck to enjoy to the full his retirement from active business life. WEDDING BELLS FOR JOE STREBINGER Joe Strebinger, a member of our booking department will take unto himself a wife, come December 1st of this year. The bride-to-be is Myrna Freedman of Toronto, and they will be married in Beth Sholom Synagogue in Toronto. Congratulations Myrna and Joe, and thé very best wishes of all of us for a long and happy life together. BLACK AND WHITE PLEASE When submitting pictures for reproduction in these pages, please stick to plain, ordinary black and white prints ... preferably glossy. We have nothing against Polaroid, but coloured pics when reversed to B & W just do not have the quality desired for proper offset printing. So please . . . black and whites in the future, huh? JACK BROWN RETIRES A member of our 25-year club, Jack Brown, projectionist at the Paramount theatre in Moncton retired after more than 25 years of continuous service. Jack started his career away back when hand-cranked projectors were the latest thing, and continued in his chosen field until his retirement a couple of months ago. Jack’s friends and associates in the business gathered at a small, informal dinner in the Imperial Room of the Palace Grill in Moncton to wish their old friend health and happiness in his retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Brown plan to spend their summers at Shediac Beach in New Brunswick and their winters in Florida. BRIAN JONES JOINS OUR LEGAL DEPARTMENT The newest addition to our head office staff is Brian Whitney Jones who will be working very closely with Larry Pilon on matters involving the legal aspects of our business. A native of Montreal, Brian received his B.A from Bishop's University in 1960 and went on to the Queen's University Law School where he obtained his LL.B. in 1964. He was called to the bar in 1966 and was with the legal department of the Manufacturers Life Insurance Company prior to joining Famous Players. Brian is married, his wife Sandra is an economist with the Ontario Economic Council. | don’t know if this reflects his legal training, but it is noteworthy that for two years running Brian knocked off the top prize, a car, in the industry's Academy Awards Sweepstakes. Maybe he should be in our booking dept.? Welcome to the Famous Family, Brian ... Glad to have you aboard. WILL MATHISON JOINS OUR BOOKING DEPARTMENT The newest member of our head office booking department is Will Mathison, erstwhile assistant manager of the University theatre in Toronto. Will who hails from Coventry, England, completed his first year at Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va. and then moved to Toronto as treasurer of the Imperial theatre under Bert Brown.
