DOUG GOW UPPED TO DIVISION SUPERVISOR OF B.C. Following Maynard Joiner’s retirement, Doug Gow, district manager of the Vancouver theatres and supervisor of maintenance has been named division supervisor of all our theatres in British Columbia. Doug has had vast experience and good training under his late father and Maynard Joiner and is well suited to his new and challenging assignment. Doug entered this business as a youngster while still attending school, as an usher in the’ family-owned Broadway theatre in Vancouver. After a short stretch in the lumbering busi ness, Doug joined Famous Players as manager of our maintenance department in B.C. In 1962 he was elevated to district manager and maintenance head of our British Columbia theatres. In the past few years Doug was responsible for the building and renovation of several theatres in the Vancouver area. Doug, wife Margaret and son Jeff, 10, enjoy life in the home he recently built in the mountains overlooking Vancouver ... and we mustn't forget Cindy their pet pooch. Good luck Doug, and all the best to you from all of us in the Famous family. BILL ROBINSON TO HEAD OFFICE BOOKING DEPARTMENT Bill Robinson who for the past several years has handled bookings for the Montreal theatres of United Amusement Corporation has been moved to the Toronto office where he will continue to book all of our Quebec theatres as head booker of our Quebec division. This move will place him in closer proximity to the distributors he does business with and will also enable him to screen all of the product he will be handling. This happy, cheerful character is a native of Toronto even though he spent most of his adult life in the Montreal area. He obtained his primary and secondary school education in Montreal and when it was time to shift for himself started as an usher at the Westmount theatre. From the Westmount Bill was moved to the head office accounting department and later joined the booking staff where his keen judgment and booking sense soon became his greatest asset. Bill is married, and he and wife Jean are very proud of their two year old daughter Pamela Lynn. The Robinsons have just purchased a home in the Islington section of Toronto and are looking forward to a happy and satisfying life in the Queen City. Welcome to H.O. Bill... we know you ll like it here, and we'll do our part to make it so. MANAGERIAL CHANGES Andre Cote, assistant manager of the Regent theatre in Ottawa has been promoted to manager of the Paramount in Rouyn. Richard Eckel has been reassigned in the Montreal area. Gordon Millar, assistant manager of the Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie has been promoted to manager of the Capitol in Woodstock, Ont. Gerry Wormald manager of the Capitol in Woodstock moves to the Capitol in Sarnia. Mort Brodsky, manager of the Capitol in Sarnia has been transferred to the Bay in North Bay.
