Bob Eves, genial vice-president of Western theatre operations tendered his resignation effective as of March 31st last. Bob has had a long and colourful career with Famous Players and has made countless friends in | the process. | Bob got his foot in the door as an usher at the Parkdale theatre in Toronto under manager Ben Geldsaler, and shortly afterwards was promoted to assistant manager. He later served as an assistant under the late Charlie Querrie at the Palace and then moved to the St. Clair as manager. For a brief stretch he managed the Oakwood in Toronto.
When the Capitol in Cobourg was completely renovated Bob was moved in aS manager, and from there proceeded to Guelph to take over the Capitol in that city.

T.W. NAYLOR RETIRES
Tommy Naylor, head of our accounting department has announced that he plans to retire at the end of May, this year.
A native of Desoronto in Ontario, Tom came into this business quite
naturally. His father owned and operated Naylor's theatre in that city, the only motion picture and vaudeville

house in that area. On his father’s death, Tom operated the theatre for a couple of years.
For a while Tommy tried his luck with a brokerage house, and then joined Famous Players in 1930 as a member of Al Troyer’s statistical department under Bill Kerr. When Bill retired, Tom was named to head that important department and shortly afterward was appointed an assistant treasurer of the company.
Tom and wife Muriel plan to take it easy for a while ... if their grandchildren will let them. They have three children, all married and all living in Toronto. Daughter Muriel has three children, and there are two boys, Gary and Jim. Jim is attending Seneca College in Toronto, and Gary and his wife are taking courses at Waterloo University leading to their Masters’ degrees.

and created an enviable reputation for his unusual and oftimes unorthodox treatment of the attractions playing his theatre. Being an artist of some note Bob personally created the art work for all his newspaper ads.
In 1939 Bob was named district manager of the Toronto suburban theatres, and when war broke out moved to the National Film Board under John Grierson, then to the Canadian army where he won his captain's pips. On his discharge from the armed forces Bob returned to the Toronto subs and in 1953 was named Western division general manager. In June of 1963 he was elevated to a vice-presidency.
Bob is still an artist at heart and plans to devote at least some of his time to serious painting. All of us at Famous wish him well, and a long and fruitful life.
LEN BISHOP SUFFERS HEART ATTACK
Len Bishop, bouncing maestro of the Hollywood in Toronto suffered a heart attack while attending the testimonial dinner honouring Peter Myers at the Inn on the Park on Monday evening April 21st. Len was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital and placed in intensive care for observation. He's coming along fine, and after his enforced rest of several weeks will be back on the job beating the drums for his favourite home away from home, the dual auditorium Hollywood.
WEDDING BELLS
Doug Robertson, manager of our Algoma theatre in Sault Ste. Marie ' took unto himself a wife in the person of Sandra Jane Thompson. ‘Sandy’ is a native of St. Catharines whose hobby is painting still life and abstracts. They were married on April 11th. Lots of luck and a very happy married life, Doug and Sandy, from all of us in the Famous Family.
