CARLYLE BLACKWELL. Educated at Cornell University, which he left at the age of nineteen to follow a stage career, joining the Elitch Stock Company in Denver, and later with Keith & Proctor's Stock Company in New York, remaining with them for a period of fifty-two weeks. After this engagement, Mr. Blackwell associated himself with several of the leading musical comedy companies for quite a period of time, appearing in "The Gay White Way," "Brown of Harvard," "The Right of Way," and a short season with Bertha Kalich. His first engagement with the motion picture profession was with the Vitagraph Company, with which he remained for a period of eight months, leaving them for the Kalem Company, with which company he remained three years, later joining forces with the Famous Players, playing leads with Mary Pickford.
